Mandy + Jason, Engagement in Central Park

If there were a such thing as a muse couple, Mandy & Jason would be one of mine. It was inspiring to capture these two who were so comfortable being themselves in front of my camera. And the story of how they met is absolutely adorable. Mandy, the younger sister of Jason’s classmate, was visiting New York from Canada. Her brother charged Jason with showing Mandy around for a day. Little did he know his sister would spend the day falling in love. Shortly after, Jason flew to Toronto for their first date. And because they just KNEW, once he graduated, he moved to be with her.

I’m such a sucker for good love stories. If you were here with me now, you would see how just typing this one makes me cheese.

Stacy-Marie + Sean, Romantic City Hall & Central Park Ceremony

The first time I met Stacy-Marie I could not get over how beautiful she is. She and Sean are both from Trinidad, which is where Sean is currently living. They wanted to keep their ceremony effortless, but at the same time experience the romance of a wedding. In the morning, they were officially married at the Queens’ City Clerk’s Office. And immediately after, they exchanged their own vows in front of the lake at Central Park. This one has earned a spot in my most romantic weddings list.

Photo Essay | Coming of Age in Las Vegas

Our first family vacation was sometime around 1990 to visit Las Vegas. To the city that offers no windows or clocks while participating in it’s most popular activity. We flew Southwest and we stayed at the Excalibur. My brother and I played arcades at Circus Circus, and my mother drove us all out to the desert to visit a Marshmallow Factory. Today, any mention of that Marshmallow Factory brings rounds of laughter to my entire family. Why would anyone ever want to eat pink flavored marshmallows?!

Over the years, we made a couple other trips out to Vegas, including many New Year’s Eves and my week long 21st birthday celebration, but none would prove to be as memorable or impactful as the first, the first plane ride and the first unknown city.

My last trip to Vegas was a couple weeks ago. I spent those days reconciling what the city had become to my family and I. Two of my brothers graduated from UNLV. Las Vegas is where they found their voices and figured out what they wanted out of life. Las Vegas is also where they learned to appreciate the ups, and fight through the downs of life. And during that trip, Las Vegas is where I began to open my heart and find the courage to understand what it means to love the way that God loves, and forgive the way that God forgives.

This is what I saw while walking through the familiarity of The Strip.

Bidisha + Jeff, Simply sophisticated and married in Brooklyn

Meeting Bidisha, Jeff and their closest family and friends was such a delight. There could not have been a more gracious group to spend this intimate ceremony with. Their celebration is evidence that when it comes down to it, marriage is about love and commitment. And having family and friends to share your life makes it so much more special.

After sharing this celebration of love, life and commitment with Bidisha and Jeff, more than ever do I believe that “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” (Leonardo da Vinci)
